Do wear a tie at a tennis champions tournament

The Wimbledon Championships, the oldest tennis tournament in the world, is widely regarded as the most prestigious among the tennis matches. Above, we see William, Prince of Wales, with his eldest son George, in the Royal Box at Wimbledon on July 10, 2022, assisting at the men’s finals.

They are giving a good example to their countrymen as well as to the whole world by dressing well for the occasion, with sports coats and ties. Maintaining a proper and dignified dress, they demonstrate it is not necessary to be casual and sloppy to enjoy oneself at a public sports event.

Sad to say, as we can see in the photo below, the people in the stands, while they admire the Royal Family and enjoy seeing them in their elegant attire, are not following its high standards. By wearing their casual and vulgar clothing, they have abandoned their dignity in the name of comfort.

The fact that the Prince of Wales and his son are sitting comfortably under the sun attentively following the matches refutes the myth that we need to be sloppy to be comfortable. It is quite possible to have a pleasant afternoon in perfectly dignified attire.

Do wear a tie at a tennis champions tournament.
