Rainbow colors at St. Peter

Rainbow colors in St. Peter's Square

During the last few days many youth from Italy and other countries have been meeting in Rome for the Jubilee of the Youth 2025. Yesterday there was a vigil and today, the Sunday Mass said by the Pope.

Above, we see young men and women displaying a flag and a fan with the rainbow colors. The first message for the normal viewer is clear: The Vatican is allowing a homosexual manifestation in St. Peter's Square.

But if you reach this conclusion and state what you see, a Vatican insider will immediately object: "Don't be so ignorant and suspicious. Don't you know that this flag is actually the symbol of Fides – the press agency of the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith?" Then the insider believes that he won the argument and placed you in a bad situation.

Actually, what happens in practice is different: By choosing the rainbow as the symbol for that agency, the Vatican consciously chose to send a mixed message. It actually wants to promote homosexuality, but then have a hypocritical response for this accusation.

See here and here how religious authorities are using the same duplicitous tactic with this symbol
