More on the Keating-Horvat Discussion

People Commmenting
Hi Marian,

The latest Karl Keating letter aims at you. [Click here to see Keating letter, and here for Horvat response].

If I could somehow get his attention, I would tell him that I honestly disagree with his opinions, they are so shoddy, and that now I wonder about the value of the contents of his newsletters.

The one photo of the kissing guy with a rosary hanging from his head is completely disrespectful, and Keating says nothing other than 'big deal.'

And he makes up some profile for a 16-year-old guy that sounds totally traditional, but that is the point - totally traditional youth do not do these things at World Youth Day.

How can anyone tell what someone is doing in his exterior? Summa Theologia says it clearly - exterior acts represent interior dispositions. If you respect the Virgin Mary, you don't use her rosary as some sort of party animal adornment.

Is Karl Keating trying so much to score points as a moderate, using Marian Horvat as his pinata, that he has to lobodimize his brain, doing away with common sense?

Has he forgotten that the virtue of Charity is to admonish sinners? We are living in an unreal era where everything is inverted - "conservative" commentators attack people who only stick to basic Catholic morals in order to defend sin and the sinners, and make the good Catholics seem like the new sinners.

We are clearly in the end of times per Matthew 24:44-51:
"Wherefore be you also ready, because at what hour you know not the Son of man will come. Who, thinkest thou, is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath appointed over his family, to give them meat in season.

"Blessed is that servant, whom when his lord shall come he shall find so doing. Amen I say to you, he shall place him over all his goods. But if that evil servant shall say in his heart: My lord is long a coming: And shall begin to strike his fellow servants, and shall eat and drink with drunkards

"The lord of that servant shall come in a day that he hopeth not, and at an hour that he knoweth not: And shall separate him, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
Our Lord saw, crystal clear, way in advance, how the final days of these End Times are to be: a persecution of True Catholic Believers referring to after the signs of the Second Coming, so as to make it very clear this must be the situation to happen.

The Ego of Keatings
People Commmenting
Hello Marian,

I read your response to Karl Keating and it was very well done...very sharp. Hopefully, your perception and more importantly, the concern that was evident in your tone, will cut him to the heart, as the Scriptures say in Acts, and he will come home.

I know of others who have had run-ins with Mr. Keating and they all come away speaking about his ego. I will pray for him as I am at least indebted to him for his book Catholicism and Fundamentalism. Back in 1996, I believe, it was the first Catholic apologetics book that I read and it was a great help for a young mind. The man has done much good but his lack of humility is killing him, literally. Thank you again for your charitable response.

God bless you,

     Fr. P.S.
