News recently appeared about a same-sex 'marriage' between a 70-year-old Catholic priest and his 28-year-old male lover. The story is so iniquitous that it needs a brief introductory preface on true marriage as instituted by Our Lord.|
In Genesis, it is told "Male and female he created them... Increase and multiply." (1:27, 28) Then, God commanded that man "shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be two in one flesh." (2:24) Note the word from God is 'wife.' The reader will forgive the lesson on such basics, which every Catholic knows. But it has become necessary in our mad days to state that every Catholic marriage is a sacrament between a man and a woman. This fact eliminates the very notion of any marital union between two persons of the same sex.
Fr. Karl Clemens, first priest in Canada to publicly 'marry' his male partner
Additionally, procreation is the principle end of marriage, obviously impossible to sodomites. So, the very notion that two persons of the same sex can marry is heretical, made exponentially worse in this case that involves a Catholic priest.
What are we dealing with here? It might be useful to state what we are not dealing with. No comment is necessary regarding the 'marriage' of these two men. Any relationship that involves sodomy has been defined as evil since God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18-19). But the shameless audacity of a priest claiming that he is 'married' to his partner can only be called trans-blasphemy.
Here are facts. Last November, Fr. Karl Clemens, a retired Canadian priest approaching 70, 'married' Nicholas Burger, his 28-year-old partner in the home they share on Sherbourne Street in Toronto. Fr. Clemens, well-aware of what he was doing, stated:
"There will be Catholics who feel, because of their lack of understanding, that this is a very wrong thing and therefore will not be pleased. I'm leading the way, or pioneering as it were, in something that I think is very important. It's a human right." (1)
I found the full account of the 'marriage,' which includes the repulsive and blasphemous "Outline for the wedding service", written up in three torturously tangled screeds that the reader can review if he has the stomach for it (here, here or here). Let me choose several items from these articles to give a general idea of the sick scenario:
- Fr. Clemens sympathize with the 5,000 or so other gay Catholic priests in Canada who continue to live in silence trapped by the old seminary adage: Don't ask; don't tell. These men fear for their careers and pensions.
- About 50% of Catholic priests and seminarians are 'gay.'
- Fr. Clemens stated "I believe I'm walking in the footsteps of Jesus."
- During the ceremony, the celebrant who 'married' Karl and Nicholas said: "Karl Clemens and Nicholas Burger have made a covenant of marriage before God in the presence of all of us. They have confirmed their marriage by the joining of hands, by the exchange of rings and by the giving of a kiss."
The whole affair is wrapped in blasphemy, lies and intrigue. A woman who claims to be the sister of Nicholas Burger wrote that Burger "isn't even a Catholic and they haven't been together for `years' as (Fr. Clemens) puts it. He's a fake!" (2)
Karl Clemens continues to minister to homosexuals in his city: "I'm doing a lot of good."
Fr. Clemens once declared that despite his homosexuality, he remained celibate, adding, "If I were any more celibate I don't think I would be alive." Nonetheless, he and his partner were 'married,' which certainly puts in doubt that claim. (3)
The Kingston Diocese in which this incident happened, to my knowledge, has made no comment on it. Pope St. Pius V called for sodomites to be burned at the stake, but will Fr. Clemens at least be excommunicated? I doubt it. Every Catholic living can see the results of opening the windows of the Church to the world with its lust.
In Joseph Conrad's work, The Heart of Darkness, the last words of the enigmatic Kurtz are, 'The horror! The horror!' In my opinion, the most reasonable interpretation of those words is that Kurtz realized he was going to Hell. His words reverberate in my mind as I reflect on the above story. One can ask if Fr. Clemens and his 'spouse' will ever realize what Kurtz did, if they will ever acknowledge the horror of their action.
May Our Lady end this horrific progressivist revolution in the Church fruit of Vatican II, where so many have already lost the Faith and their souls.
