A Leo in the Circus
On January 7, 2026, Pope Leo XIV received 40 participants of Zoppis Circus, which is performing in Rome until February 8. Its show is Evolution - The Circus of the Future.Instead of animals, which this circus does not have, it has robots, and is well known for it use of plays of lights and laser effects; hence the name "Circus of the Future."
Leo did not find any problem posing with the circus' acrobats and shaking hands with one of the artists in a fluorescent costume, even though he should be well aware that the normal circus spectacle includes indecent performances, such as those shown in the last three rows.
Yes, the "conservative" Leo XIV has to conserve the custom of the previous conciliar Popes who "forgot" morality, received circus performers quite often and took on clownish behaviors on many occasions.
