Pope Francis receives the KoranOn March 29, 2017, Pope Francis received groups representing different religions of Iraq. On that occasion an Arab gave him a copy of the Koran, above and below first row, which he received with the same respect he would display if he were receiving a Catholic Bible.
This cordiality in receiving a book with errors is extremely harmful for Catholics, since it sends the message that all religions lead to salvation, which consubstantiates the heresy of religious indifferentism. It is the practical denial that there is only one true Church – the Catholic Church – and that all the other religions lead to eternal perdition.
Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus (outside the Church there is no salvation) is a dogma of the Faith that requires the full adhesion of Catholics. To explicitly or implicitly deny it situates a person in the realm of heresy.
It is indisputable that this dogma has been constantly denied by the Conciliar Popes and is now followed by a large number of Catholics. There is no way to avoid saying that this is apostasy, even if taught by recent Popes.
If you want to understand the words of Our Lady of La Salette – "Rome will lose the Faith and become the seat of the Antichrist" – here you have a concrete example of how this is taking place.
To make the gift of the Koran appear more "normal," immediately after receiving it, Francis accepted an Arab mantle and put it on, so that the Koran could be considered as part of the Arab folklore.
Last row, Francis at the Mosque in Constantinople (November 29, 2014) attentively listens to a mufti reciting verses of the Koran.
