Abortion Bill & Dangerous Boomerang

Summer Solstice Illumination

Dear TIA,

Salve Maria!

I was reading Margaret Galitzin's article on the Winter and Summer Solstice illuminations at the Missions, and I thought you might find this video interesting. This was the illumination that occurred in 2020 at St. Charles Borremeo Basilica at the Carmel Mission..

California to Pass Sweeping Abortion Bill

TIA,

Please, spread this news while it is still time. People need to act fast and call their representatives to stop this bill.

T.H.

California Poised to Pass Sweeping Abortion Bill

California Family Council: CFC is sounding the alarm on a sweeping abortion bill in California, AB 260, which is headed to the Senate Appropriations Committee after passing the Assembly and clearing two Senate hearings.

The bill, authored by Assembly member Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Napa), is being hailed by pro-abortion advocates as a shield against out-of-state legal interference, but CFC warns it comes at the expense of women’s health and safety, and the lives of unborn babies.

The legislation would allow pharmacies to dispense the abortion pill mifepristone without listing the name of the prescribing doctor or pharmacy.

It also prohibits California licensing boards and agencies from disciplining providers or facilities that prescribe, manufacture, or distribute abortion drugs, even if they have been penalized under laws in other states

Leo XIV Makes Bad Appointments

Dear TIA,

Salve Maria!

A friend here, who does not like Leo at all, still mentioned that perhaps[s Leo has no other real choices than to place bad men in important places, that even a bad bishop is worse than no bishop. He may have a point in times which are half-normal. But now? It seems that no bishop is better than an anti-Catholic bishop.

St. John Vianney said, "Leave a parish without a priest for twenty years and the people will be worshipping beasts." Well, yes. But these three selections noted below will be leading the people to such worship, I fear.

Pope Leo XIV today appointed members to the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (DICLSAL), which is the Vatican office overseeing religious orders and the Latin Mass communities.

Among others the Cardinals include:
  • Cardinal Arthur Roche: prefect of the Dicastery for Divine Worship under Pope Francis who led the late pontiff’s charge against the traditional Mass and enforced restrictions on it.

  • Cardinal Cristóbal López Romero: Archbishop of Rabat who has supported blessings for same-sex couples in light of Fiducia Supplicans, adding that synodality is a “prophetic sign” for the world and that opponents of its decisions are “morally obligated to support” them.

  • Cardinal Jaime Spengler: Archbishop of Porto Alegre and president of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil along with the Latin American Episcopal Council (CELAM). Spengler has shown support for the highly controversial Amazon rite while also supporting Fiducia Supplicans’ blessings for same-sex couples.

Angelus Magazine & Eric Gill

From TIA Media,

Re: The Infamous Gill

We received this objection on X:

I’ve been attending SSPX for 20 years and have never once heard this name [Eric Gill]. No, they do not promote him. This is just an attempt to drag them through the mud.

TIA Media responds:

J.K.

SSPX's Angelus Magazine has not only praised him in the past, presenting him as a model for their readers, but also defended him after his degenerate sexual sins were exposed by us (which they called a "mortal sin of detraction"). See here and here.

Some excerpts for your reading convenience:

"In May 2005, Patrick Odou wrote an article exposing the corrupt morality of Eric Gill (Eric Gill, the Pedophile Founder of Distributism). It happened that, by coincidence, when the article was posted on the TIA website (May 14), the March issue of [SSPX's] The Angelus magazine was being sent to its subscribers with an article by Eric Gill on education.

"Odou presented Gill as incestuous, a pedophile, and a pornographic and blasphemous artist; The Angelus, on the contrary, praised him. Its biographic note on Gill noted that he 'not only had a distinguished career as a thinker, social critic, and art philosopher, but he was a skillful engraver, sculptor, and typographer.'

"The editor was proud to announce that Gill 'designed the Gill Sans typeface often seen in Angelus Press Publications.' Further, the magazine advertised an essay by Eric Gill - 'Painting and the Public.' That is, the magazine gave an unreserved endorsement to Gill and his works.

"The public that received this issue of The Angelus, some of whom are also readers of the TIA website, found themselves in the crossfire of two blatantly different interpretations of a founder of Distributism, Eric Gill.

"It is not difficult to understand that many parents were shocked to find an article on the education of children written by a man who was a notorious adulterer, eroticist, and pedophile. Some were quite perturbed to read the unrestricted eulogies by The Angelus of a man who they discovered was a pornographic and blasphemous artist."

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to clarify and show proofs of SSPX's strong support for Eric Gill."

Dangerous Boomerang

Dear TIA,

The bombing of Iran by the US does not seem to be preparing peace as Trump is boasting. At least, this is what we may conclude by the threats Medvedev – the man in charge of the nuclear weapons in Russia – has made.

I believe that the comments below cannot be disregarded as exaggerated, unless one is an unconditional Trump fan. But in such a case, the person has to deny reality in order to maintain the cult of personality … something that Americans have always hated.

The bombing of Iran’s facilities should not be taken lightly; it can be a dangerous boomerang that can turn back on us and cause a lot of damage.

Trump’s Iran strikes backfire: Russia warns
that Iran will likely be resupplied with nuclear warheads

Lance D Johnson

06/23/2025 - The United States’ military strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities have achieved the exact opposite of their intended goal, according to Russia’s former president Dmitry Medvedev. Instead of crippling Tehran’s nuclear ambitions, the attacks have reportedly emboldened Iran and triggered a dangerous new phase in global geopolitics—one where multiple nations are now prepared to arm the Islamic Republic with nuclear warheads.

This shocking revelation exposes the catastrophic miscalculations of the Trump administration, which, under pressure from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, abandoned diplomatic negotiations and launched a reckless military offensive. The opposite of what Trump claimed to want is occurring. Iran will likely be resupplied with nuclear warheads and capabilities.

Key points:
  • Russia’s Dmitry Medvedev claims U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites have backfired, pushing Tehran closer to weaponization.
  • Multiple nations allegedly stand ready to supply Iran with nuclear warheads, escalating global instability.
  • Western media will continue to portray Iran as having no allies, but this is nothing but propaganda.
  • Netanyahu’s long-standing campaign to drag the U.S. into war with Iran succeeded, undermining diplomacy.
  • Iran had previously agreed to stringent nuclear inspections and enrichment limits before Trump abruptly reversed course.
  • The US attack violates international law and risks plunging the Middle East into a wider conflict.
  • Iran will be emboldened after the airstrikes, as other nations come to defend them.
Netanyahu’s trap springs shut

For decades, Netanyahu has sought to embroil the U.S. in a direct confrontation with Iran, framing Tehran as an existential threat to Israel. His influence over Trump proved decisive. Just months into Trump’s second term, the U.S. abandoned promising nuclear talks—where Iran had agreed to maximum transparency, reduced uranium enrichment, and full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)—and instead launched airstrikes on key nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow.

An informed Iranian source revealed that negotiations between Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had reached a tentative agreement. “The deal was as follows: Iran would accept maximum nuclear inspections… convert or export its stockpile of 60% enriched uranium… halt high-level enrichment… and resolve all technical ambiguities with the IAEA,” the source said. In return, the U.S. would lift nuclear-related sanctions.

But after a call between Netanyahu and Trump, Washington abruptly demanded Iran completely abandon its peaceful nuclear program – a nonstarter that sabotaged diplomacy. Two days before the next round of talks, Israel attacked Iran, forcing Trump’s hand. “This was Israel’s trap – designed to drag the U.S. into war,” the source said.

A dangerous new nuclear reality

Medvedev’s warning that nations are now prepared to supply Iran with nuclear warheads marks a terrifying escalation. Russia, a key Iranian ally, has already condemned the U.S. strikes as “irresponsible” and a violation of international law. Meanwhile, Tehran – which has no active nuclear weapons program, according to the IAEA – may now reconsider its commitment to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

“Countries like North Korea, India, Pakistan, and Israel rejected the NPT and developed nukes—yet they remain immune from attack,” said Trita Parsi of the Quincy Institute. “Iran has learned the hard way that disarmament invites aggression.”

Trump’s decision to strike Iran also exposes the hypocrisy of U.S. nonproliferation policy. Israel, the Middle East’s sole nuclear power with an estimated 400 warheads, has never faced consequences for its arsenal. Meanwhile, Iran – ubject to the most intrusive inspections in history – was bombed despite no evidence of weaponization.

The consequences of this reckless escalation are dire. Iran, now more unified under its leadership, may accelerate its nuclear efforts. Russia and other nations could further embolden Iran by supplying advanced weaponry. And the U.S., having violated the UN Charter, faces global condemnation, especially if they push for regime change and destabilization of Iran.
