Hong Kong (CNN) — Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a joint statement “further deepening” their partnership following talks in Moscow Thursday – a show of solidarity in the face of global uncertainties unleashed by US President Donald Trump’s “America First” diplomacy.
Seated together in an ornate room in the Kremlin following roughly four hours of talks, the two leaders inked what Chinese state media said was a “joint statement on further deepening China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era.” Putin and Xi typically release lengthy and wide-ranging joint statements following their regular meetings.
In remarks afterward, both leaders looked to frame their relationship as a key force for defending and improving the world order – contrary to Western characterizations of the partnership and even as Russia continues its brutal, years-long invasion of Ukraine.
“In today’s challenging geopolitical situation and global uncertainty, the Russia-China foreign policy partnership is a key stabilizing factor on the international stage,” Putin said, according to a Kremlin readout. “Together, we defend the formation of a more just and democratic multi-polar world order.”

Fatima Repercussion in Ireland

Someone from your staff asked me about the effect of the Apparitions at Fatima on my life and I did not fully answer her for which I apologize. …
I addition to the apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima, we had in Ireland the Modesty and Purity Crusade of the American Priest Father Kunkel. We also had the International Eucharistic Conference in the same year 1932. Then the Marian Year of 1954 and the visit of Father Peyton to promote the family Rosary in the Summer of 1954. So, these were wonderful times when devotion to Our Lady was very strong, and the emphasis was very much on modesty, purity, chastity, humility and obedience.
The message of Fatima about the punishment for sins of the flesh was very stark as the image of the children who were privileged to have seen the vision of Hell. Their faces truly frightened us. I was so impressed by the penances of little Jacinta, who remains one of my favorite people to whom I pray. The children’s friend, who is still in Purgatory and will be until the end of time, was a reminder that God's Justice is not like ours. How severe her punishment when not even our prayers can help her.
The seriousness of sins of the flesh gave fresh impetus to the Sisters who ran the Magdalene Institutions, and indeed the regime in such institutions was made more severe because of the message of Our Lady. The penitent girls were imbued with the true fear of God by the Sisters who explained the need for extra penances in order to avoid Hellfire. The penitential spirit grew rapidly among the girls, and I know that some heroic penances were performed especially in private. …
IIn school with the Holy Faith Sisters in the 1940s and 1950s, modesty of dress was imposed strictly. Our hems had to be mid calf length. On our way to and from school we hitched up our hem because if we ran in the muddy lanes some of the mud would splash on our school uniform and we would be punished after inspection. Loose clothing was the norm for the upper body and layers to achieve a modest shapeless bodice area.
In general, after the message of Fatima became known, girls were disciplined more strictly. Company keeping was severely punished by fathers in the home. We had to be home early even in Summer, and we were forbidden to listen to popular music or go near the hall where dances were sometimes held. There were protests from the Children of Mary Sodality outside dance halls and they prayed the Holy Rosary for the Souls who would perish each night.
In 1954 I was received into the Children of Mary and we attended the opening of many new shrines and grottos to Our Lady. It seemed even the smallest parish had a grotto, and they appeared at crossroads and road junctions all over rural Ireland. This was a time of the greatest devotion to Our Lady and a time of great grace received by our country. Little did we realize what would happen just a decade later. br>

I extend my heartfelt compliments for your noble and truly Catholic soul, steadfast in its devotion and integrity. Your silence on Francis 2.0 – as if it were any surprise... We shall expect soon Francis 2.0 encyclicals; the series goes on – is a testament to your wisdom, discerning spirit, and unwavering commitment to the truth.
We live in an era clouded by hypocrisy, where the essence of the Catholic soul seems ever more adrift. Yet, amidst the uncertainty, the light of faith still shines through you and your faithful followers – a beacon of hope, a reminder of the purity of devotion, and an enduring source of grace.
The choice of the papal name is a disguise. We shall remember the legacy of the great Pope Leo XIII, who stood as a pillar of true Catholic doctrine. We remember his truly Catholic encyclicals, which illuminated the path of faith and preserved the sacred traditions of Holy Mother Church.
Moreover, yesterday commemorated the second appearance of St. Michael the Archangel in Monte Gargano – may it be a sign from Heaven to the remnant Catholics who still have not lost their Catholic soul.
Christus vincit, Christus regnat, Christus imperat – May the Immaculate Heart of Mary forever guide and protect us.
