Fetal Cosmetics & Apparitions of Zeitoun

Lincoln & the Missions

Dear Marian Horvat,

I truly enjoy the latest video on the correct history of Our Lady of Bethlehem in Carmel Mission.

I do wonder why Abraham Lincoln was not mentioned, as he signed a document giving back all 21 missions to the Catholic Church. He was assassinated 4 weeks later. It was his wish to visit the Holy Land & California. He never got to.

     Prayers,

     E.H.

Dr. Horvat responds:

Dear E.H.,

Thank you for your kind words about the documentary on Our Lady of Bethlehem produced by Miss Salwa Bachar.

When I studied the Civil War, it came to my attention quite acutely how many false myths have been spread about Abraham Lincoln. We have printed many articles on our site, presenting the other side of Lincoln (e.g. see here, here and here).

I recently learned as well that the Lincolns participated in séances and were extremely superstitious. Mrs. Lincoln in particular was strongly anti-Catholic, and she governed the melancholy Abe Lincoln, who took a vow against the Catholic Church.

Therefore, I am personally very reluctant to present him in a positive way in a public manner, especially in a documentary on this marvelous statue of Our Lady of Bethlehem and the zealous missionary Fr. Junipero Serra.

I hope this responds to your question.

     In Maria,

     Marian T. Horvat

Hello TIA,

There is a booklet that is being offered free that tells which cosmetics use fetal cells from aborted babies. Any woman who wears make-up should check it out to be sure they are clear of such a horrible thing.

You can order it here.

Who Are You?

Hello,

I stumbled upon your website recently, and I would like to ask what is your position on the Vatican 2 church ?

Do you believe Vatican 2 was a valid council ?

Are you sedevacantists ?

Do you believe in the sainthood of JP2 and mother Teresa ?

Peruvian Bishop + 51 Priests against Vatican

Dear TIA,

The Bishop of the Prelature of Moyobamba in Peru along with 51 priests under his jurisdiction rejected the norms of Fiducia supplicans, the latest document issued by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Bishop Rafael Escudero is quite vocal explaining his position:

“It is a grave abuse of the most holy name of God, which is invoked over an objectively sinful union of fornication, adultery or, even worse, homosexual activity.

He continues: “Homosexual acts are disordered, and, above all, contrary to natural law.”

At least some churchmen are sticking to Catholic Doctrine, which is very good. However, what is tragic is that they have to defend this doctrine against the Pope and the Vatican…

Keep up the good work.

Apparition of Our Lady of Zeitoun, Egypt

Dear friends of TIA, greetings.

I have a question that I would like to see clarified please, and I apologize if I'm bothering you but I couldn't really find an answer to it in any Google search, and even more so taking into account the confusing situation of what Vatican II brought for Catholics.

What I wanted to know is whether the apparitions of Zeitoun in Egypt where supposedly Our Lady appeared levitating above a Coptic church of the Eastern Orthodox rite are recognized by the Roman Catholic Church as a fact worthy of piety and devotion by Catholics? And, if Yes, is it a bad thing that is with Vatican II or is it within traditional and legitimate Catholic religiosity?

There is no doubt that something of a preternatural nature happened in that place; and in addition to the crowds who witnessed it, many of these apparitions were recorded on video, and photos and were even seen live on TV around the world. Despite having something of a preternatural nature about it, the case did not happen in a Roman Catholic church nor did any type of communication or message from the supposed Our Lady occur, but it was something important that happened to the persecuted Christian minorities in the country.

Since the apparitions took place, this fact has always had a lot of repercussion and acceptance in Roman Catholic circles and among believers (especially in my family). Your knowledge of the Marian apparitions being evident in your articles, I therefore i ask you.

Thank you very much in advance for your attention.

TIA responds:

Dear F.T.,

Unfortunately, we are not familiar with the apparitions of Zeitoun in Egypt. After doing some research, it appears that the apparitions have not been approved by the Roman Catholic Church, but rather have been "approved" by the schismatic and heretical Coptic Orthodox Church.

Our Lady supposedly appeared over St. Mary's Coptic Church at various times from 1968-1971 and was witnessed by thousands of people. However, the fact that St. Mary's was built in the 1920s for heretics should make a Catholic cautious of accepting it, knowing as we do that there is no salvation outside of the Catholic Church. Anything that encourages ecumenism, as this apparition seems to do, is suspect of coming from the Devil. For this reason, it is likely that the apparitions are not from Our Lady.

A similar confusion occurred a few years ago when Pope Francis inscribed 21 "Coptic martyrs" into the Roman Martyrology. Then, as now, Catholics cannot make concessions with heretics, as is explained here. We advise avoiding the apparitions at Zeitoun and instead following approved apparitions such as Our Lady of Good Success and Our Lady of Fatima.

May Our Lady guide you in discerning the veracity of real apparitions.
