Traditional Prayers to Be Said
during the Day

Prayers Before and After Meals

The first two prayers are to be said before and after sitting at the table for meals. The prayers should be said aloud by the head of the table who prays for all present. When two persons of equal standing are beginning a meal, one should offer the other the honor of praying for both.

The Angelus is to be said every 6 hours - midnight, 6 am, noon, and 6 pm - in honor of the Annunciation of the Angel and the Incarnation of the Word that took place at midnight.

The Regína Caéli is to be said in honor of the Resurrection of Our Lord and the corresponding joy of Our Lady. It is prayed in place of the Angelus throughout Paschal time, from Easter Sunday to the Sunday of Pentecost
