Harry Potter ritual in a church in Germany
On February 28, 2026, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Herne hosted an ecumenical service inspired by the Harry Potter films. The city of Herne is part of the Archdiocese of Paderborn, whose titular bishop is Msgr. Udo Marcus Bentz. The event was advertised online causing a strong reaction among Catholics - particularly of the group Christkönigtum, the Kingdom of Christ, which asked the religious authorities to suspend the event as "a profanation of God's house."
The Archdiocese defended the service as a pastoral tool for evangelization. The event took place as the promotional material had promised - with the participation of “fans and Hogwarts newcomers” gathering for an evening “amidst candles, light and darkness” where “hope takes shape.” There were references to butter-beer, house colors and “magical attire” as well as the use of the church’s entrance hall and nave, reports The Catholic Herald.
With this German event we see that the promotion of para-Satanic rituals is becoming more and more common, as part of the increasing tide of blasphemies in sacred places. At times, we see Halloween costume parties, at other times; ceremonies promoting Indigenous cults under the pretext of "inculturalization," at yet other times fashion and macabre art shows presented under the pretext of original art. The common denominator of all these events is that Catholic are becoming accustomed to Satanism in their churches.
Who is promoting it? The clergy and the members of the Hierarchy who should be preaching the Gospel of Christ...
