Forgotten Truths
Women’s Dress & Gestures
Induce Men to Sin
Unfortunately it is quite common in today’s world to see women in revolutionary clothing - called “sexy” - that are explicitly meant to produce bad thoughts in any man who sees them. This belongs to the world, whose Prince is Satan, and nothing is more coherent than that the children of the Devil would wear such dress.
What is amazing, however, is that among those who are conservative or traditionalist Catholics, the same behavior is found, even if diluted or disguised. In order to avoid being considered “Jansenist” or “Puritan” - these are some of the accusations spread against those who promote consistently modest Catholic dress - women and girls are revealing their legs and shoulders and emphasizing their forms by wearing tight clothing in order to attract the opposite sex.
Let those semi-liberal ladies read the following words of a great Saint of the Church and change their behavior. There is still time to turn to the right path and not give scandal… St. John Chrysostom (347-407), Doctor of the Church, teaches:
St. John Chrysostom
You carry your snare everywhere and spread your nets in all places. You allege that you never invited others to sin. You did not, indeed, by your words, but you have done so by your dress and your deportment. ... When you have made another sin in his heart, how can you be innocent?
Tell me, whom does this world condemn? Whom do judges punish? Those who drink poison or those who prepare it and administer the fatal potion? You have prepared the abominable cup, you have given the death dealing drink, and you are more criminal than are those who poison the body; you murder not the body but the soul. And it is not to enemies you do this, nor are you urged on by any imaginary necessity, nor provoked by injury, but you do so out of foolish vanity and pride."
John Chrysostom, Homilies on the Gospel of Matthew,
J. H. Parker, 1843, p. 257
