Assisi 2010 loses steam
Above you see a scene from the October 30, 2010 commemoration of the 24th anniversary of the panreligious meeting of Assisi taking place in the very city of Assisi. The man at the microphone is Archbishop Alberto Taveira of Belem do Pará, Brazil. Present was the chief rabbi of Rome Riccardo Segni and several heretical "bishops." This event was part of the charismatic Congress of Catholic Fraternity.
The same month of October saw a similar interfaith meeting in Barcelona celebrating Assisi, which gathered more people who were preparing for the November 2010 visit of Benedict XVI to that city. These encounters, however, seem to be losing steam in Italy.
To reinforce the flagging ecumenical movement, Benedict XVI has already announced he will be present at one more panreligious gathering at Assisi in October this year to mark the 25th anniversary of JPII's interreligious prayer for peace (October 27, 1986). It will be another revolutionary landmark of the “conservative” Benedict XVI...
