Bob Dylan singing for the Pope

A rock Eucharistic Congress in Bologna

Bologna - On September 27, 1997, at the 23rd Italian Eucharistic Congress, John Paul II promoted a rock concert. Invited to perform at the event were Bob Dylan, above and below left, as well as several other rock singers, below right.

Pope Wojtyla embraced Bocelli, a popular Italian rock star, and shook hands with Dylan. Addressing the audience, supposedly all youth, JPII commented on a song of Dylan: "Your representative says that the answer to the questions of your lives is blowing in the wind. This is true, in the wind that is the breath and voice of the spirit."
